God Desires a Clean Heart

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not the Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with a free Spirit." (Psalm 51:10-12)

Sometimes, when we go through trials, we're not sure how to pray. It's even harder when we've added our own sin to the trial, and we don't feel as though God wants to hear us. But God does want to hear us. If we're not sure what to say, we can get help from prayers like David's in Psalm 51, or from prayers of other people, like the one below.

O Father,

I so desire to have a clean heart before You! I don't want sinful desires, wickedness, bitterness, or anger to keep me from You. Forgive me for sinning against you with my spirit, my actions, and my words. Please help me to retain the joy, happiness, and peace that You have given to me throughout this trial. Because of the pain, it is hard, Lord, to smile. It is hard to keep myself from bitterness and anger.

O Father, I cannot do any of this in my own power. My flesh is weak and I easily become bitter. I can only have a clean heart in your strength and power. Give me the strength, wisdom, and power to turn this situation over to You completely. Allow my spirit, actions, and attitudes to reflect you.

For Your Glory and Honor Forever! In Jesus' name,
Amen!

God will clean our hearts and give us grace in response to our prayers.

My Response:
» When I go through difficult situations, do I pray for grace and confess my sins?

Truth In Real Life

Dwight L. Moody

“The Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from the Bible.”

“After our great generals, great statesmen, great scientists and great men of letters have passed away and been forgotten… the work of D. L. Moody will go on and its saving influence continue and increase…. Yes, it will continue throughout the ages of eternity.”

The above words were spoken by the evangelist and Christian author R.A. Torrey – who had been a personal friend of D. L. Moody. And he was right – the legacy of Moody’s ministry continues and in that sense will live on in the hearts of men and women generation after generation. Many people and their descendents will be in heaven partly because God used Moody to introduce them to Bible-based teaching about Himself.

The sixth in a family of nine children, Dwight Lyman Moody was born on February 5, 1837, in Northfield, Massachusetts. Although his parents were godly, he would never know a normal home life. When he was just ten years old, his father died, and the boy Moody was forced to leave home to get a job.

After a Sunday School teacher led Moody to Christ when he was 18, his life changed dramatically. During the forty years following his salvation, he led at least one million souls to Christ, taught thousands of men how to preach, started three Christian schools, and created the world’s largest Sunday School. (Abraham Lincoln was once a guest speaker for it!)

Moody teamed up with the talented Christian musician Ira D. Sankey; and together, they conducted Gospel meetings all over the world.

“There are many of us who are willing to do great things for the Lord,” Moody once said, “but few of us are willing to do little things.” Such little things might include encouraging a brother or sister in Christ, showing love to someone who is ungrateful, or doing kind things in secret. What “little thing” can you do for Christ today? If you hope to do something big for Him, you ought to be content to start with “small things” and do them well for Him and His people. Being faithful with small things is good practice for faithfulness in bigger things, if that’s what God wills.

Mark 9:41 – “For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”

Description of God

The King of All the Earth
Psalm 47:7 "For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding."

Question & Answer

QCan anyone be truly happy without salvation?

ANo. God created us so that true happiness can be found only in knowing Him. Romans 4:7 – Saying, Blessed [happy] are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

BIG Christian Word

Spiritual Gift - (speer'a-chul gift)

A spiritual gift is an ability that is given by the Holy Spirit and used in any ministry of the church. A spiritual gift is given to a believer when one believes in and accepts Christ. It is not necessarily a talent that one has. This gift is used to encourage and build up the church body. (I Corinthians 12: 4, 8-10) "Now there are diversities (different) of gifts, but the same Spirit. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers (several) kinds of tongues; But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will."
