Jesus Was Born to Mary as the Holy Son of God

"The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:35b)

One of the most incredible facts about Christmastime is that it is the celebration a miraculous birth, a birth that never could have happened if it had not been for a divine miracle (a miracle of God). There was no human way possible for Mary, a God-fearing woman (but still a sinner), to have been able to give birth to God Himself in human form. Jesus was 100% man, but He was also 100% God. Not only is it impossible for a normal birth to happen without an earthly father, but even the earthly mother of Jesus was a human being. Jesus' birth was not going to be "normal," because even though He was coming in authentic human form, He is also God (the Creator of humans). He always has been and always will be God. For a sinful human being to give birth to God would have to have been a miracle!

We are human beings, and all of our mothers were sinners, too, like Mary was. Some of us have been given God-fearing homes, and some of us have parents who do not even know Who Jesus Christ was. As human beings, we are limited by our sinfulness and by our human limitations. We cannot explain the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, and we cannot even understand it. But we can trust in it as a true fact – however incredible it is – because God's Word teaches it clearly, and God's Word is our most reliable Source of truth.

Think about your mother, and think about yourself. She is not perfect, and neither are you. You are probably reminded every day that you are not perfect. What a miracle it was for God to send Himself, in all His divine perfections, down to Earth to seek and to save sinful human beings.

This Christmas season, celebrate the incredible yet trustworthy truth: God accomplished that miracle of the virgin birth. He did it for His own glory and for our best good.

Jesus Christ had a miraculous birth, and God deserves all the glory for it.

My Response:
» Is the doctrine of the miraculous birth of Christ difficult for me to understand?
» Do I believe the Bible is God's Word to me, even when it teaches difficult truths?
» Am I praising God for all the good and great things He did in sending His Son to be the Savior?

Anna B Warner

“Lord, if I may, I’ll serve another day!”

Anna Bartlett Warner, the daughter of a well-respected New York lawyer, was born on August 31, 1827, in Long Island, New York. In Long Island, the Warner family had been known for being very rich. But then came the Great Depression. The Great Depression was a difficult time in history. The stock market crashed, and the value of the dollar went very low. People everywhere lost their jobs and their money. Many people lost everything they had.

Because of their losses, the Warners had to move to their summer home, and Anna was expected to get a job. She chose to be an author – writing novels which became famous during her lifetime. What became even more famous, however, were the hymns and songs that she wrote. She wrote the following song for a little boy in Sunday School who was dying:
Jesus loves me – this I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me. The Bible tells me so.

“Jesus Loves Me” has become perhaps the most well-known Christian song in history.

When the Chinese Christians were persecuted they had no way of letting their brothers and sisters in Christ know that they survived. In 1972, some Christians in America received a strange message from their friends in China. The message said that the “This I know” people were fine! The Chinese police thought it was just a silly message, so they let it go through. The Americans knew right away that the Chinese Christians were referring to Anna Warner's sweet song – “Jesus Loves Me.”

Are you serving God with the gifts He has given you? Is Anna Warner’s song a good reminder to you that God loves you? He loves you more than anyone else ever could! Loving other people is a sign that you love God. Are you loving others today?

1 John 4:8 – He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Description of God

He That Is Holy
Revelation 3:7 "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;"

Question & Answer

QHas God's purpose for His Church been completed?

ANo. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is to be proclaimed with boldness by His children until the Lord returns to Earth to judge its inhabitants. Acts 1:8 – But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

BIG Christian Word

Redemption - (ree-demp-shun)

Redemption is given to all believers through the death of Jesus. He redeemed (bought) us from the bondage of Satan. Jesus paid the price through his death on the cross so we could be free from the power of Satan. In 1 John 5:19, we read that the whole world is under the power of the evil one. (Mark 10:45) "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."
