God Gives Good Things to All His Creation
Adventure 3: The Goodness of God
Mission: 6

Question Answer
Does God give to everyone good things they do not deserve?

God is a gracious God Who delights in giving good things to His creatures. Psalm 145:8-9 – The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The LORD is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.

The Difference This Truth Makes
If we did not believe that God gives good things to us, we would be tempted to live a life of sin – trying to please ourselves with whatever the world has to offer. But God is good. God is good to us. God is good to us all the time!

Some people might be tempted to think that God is good, but that “He’s not good to me!” That is not correct thinking, because God is good to all. God is gracious toward those who deserve only punishment. He gives them something they do not deserve. This good giving He does is called “grace”!

God was even being good to us in the way He arranged the human nose. If He had pointed the nostrils up, we would drown every time it rained! God has given many good things to all His Creation, things we do not even think about.

The Devil would have us believe that God has not given us good things, or that God is keeping good things from us. In fact, these were two of the very first lies Satan used in order to get man to sin. Just look at what he told Eve: Genesis 3:5 – “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

The Devil was trying to convince Eve that God was withholding something goodfrom her. As humans, we want good things. We will always go after what we think is good. In this case, Eve believed that what would be good for her was to eat the fruit – but she believed a lie. The fruit wasn’t God’s best for her. The way Satan helped Eve to sin was by tricking her into believing that God was not giving her something good.
