The Bible Clearly Teaches That the Holy Spirit Is God
Adventure 4: The Trinity
Mission: 9

Question Answer
Does the Bible teach that the Holy Spirit is God?

Yes. The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit is God. 2 Corinthians 3:17 – Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

The Difference This Truth Makes
The Holy Spirit is God, and God is not just a mystical force. God has a mind, will, and emotions. Some people think that the Holy Spirit is just an invisible force with no personality. They wonder if it is just special strength from God that helps people accomplish His will, but the Bible clearly teaches that the Holy Spirit is a Person.

Like a person, The Holy Spirit has:

• Intelligence: 1 Corinthians 2:13 – These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

• Emotion: Ephesians 4:30 – And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

• Will: 1 Corinthians 12:11 – But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
