Only Christ Can Save Us from Sin and Sin’s Penalty
Adventure 9: God's Gift -- Salvation
Mission: 2

Question Answer
In whom alone must we trust to forgive our sins and to make us fit for eternal life with God?

We must trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, and in Him alone. Only the Lord Jesus Christ is able and willing to save us. Acts 4:12 – Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

The Difference This Truth Makes
Because we are sinners, we are in bondage to sin and its penalty. (See 1 John 5:19.) Unless someone rescues us, we are utterly helpless to escape from our bondage, and will have to suffer the pains of eternal death forever.

But Christ came to save sinners! Mark 10:45 – “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

The word “ransom” means “a redemption price.” Christ paid the price necessary for our salvation. He paid it in full; there is nothing left to pay. Any of our attempts to pay for our own sins are insults to God, since Christ has already paid the penalty of sin.

The penalty for sin was paid by Christ, and His payment was received and accepted by God the Father. Without Christ, our only possible future would be eternal punishment. But for those who hope in Christ, eternal LIFE is the only future!
