God Wants You To Love Him and Others
Adventure 10: God's Purpose for His Children
What does it mean to 'love God and others'?
To love God and others means to treat them with genuine care, humility, and loyal kindness. Philippians 2:3-4 –
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
This Truth Makes
God has set apart His people to Himself. This relationship is anchored in love. God is sanctifying us so that we might love Him and others more and more. In other words, in sanctification, God changes what we love and how much we love!
Before salvation, we love ourselves and the things the world has to offer us, more than we love anything else. 1 John 2:15 –
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
When God purifies us, He changes us to love the things that He loves. We love Him. We love others. We love good works. We love holiness. We love everything that God loves!
