God Allows Sin But Never Commits Sin
Adventure 11: God's Work -- Past and Present
Mission: 4

Question Answer
If the LORD is totally in control, but He still lets sin go on, does that mean He must sometimes approve of sin?

No. The LORD never approves of sin. He hates all sin, all the time. He is totally right in everything He does and everything He allows. Psalm 92:15b – The LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

The Difference This Truth Makes
Sometimes, God keeps people from sin (see Genesis 20:6); and other times, He allows them to fulfill their wicked desires (see Romans 1). He is never guilty of personally causing or committing sin. James 1:13 – Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.

God will not overlook any sin. People might think that they have an excuse for their sins, since God is the One ultimately in control of all things. But people like that are mistaken! If there is someone to blame for our sin – it is ourselves! God created us to be responsible and accountable for all our actions.

All of God’s eternal decrees are righteous and holy! Although God has the awesome ability to work in spite of people’s sin and disobedience and still accomplish His will, He is never pleased by sin. God has perfectly provided everything necessary to fulfill His plans – all without His ever coming even close to being guilty of sin.
