God’s Plan from the New Testament until Now
Adventure 11: God's Work -- Past and Present
What is the main way God has been making known His grace and glory during New Testament times and up until now?
In New Testament times and up until now, God has been making known His grace and glory by leading and taking special care of His redeemed people. All God's redeemed people are called 'the Church,' and they meet together in smaller groups called 'local churches.' 1 Peter 2:9 – But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
This Truth Makes
God has been glorifying Himself through a specific group of people has never changed! In the Old Testament, it was to glorify Himself in and through a specific nation, Israel. From the New Testament until now, God’s plan is to glorify Himself in and through any true believers in Him from any nation! Galatians 3:14 – That the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Although “physical” Israel is God’s chosen people, God also says that all believers are Abraham’s seed [children]. There is a sense in which every believer is part of “spiritual Israel.” Galatians 3:29 – And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Right now, God is actively working in the world to establish His rule in the hearts and lives of believers. He is saving people and calling out a people for His name. This is God’s plan in the world today – and He will not stop until He has accomplished His will completely.
