God Is Always Truthful
Case 3: The Goodness of God
Clue: 5

Question Answer
Does God ever lie?

God never lies. His Word is absolute truth. Titus 1:2 – In hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began.

The Difference This Truth Makes
The Bible speaks of eternal life as something that is for now and for the future. “Eternal life” means fellowship with God. It begins the moment someone trusts Christ for the forgiveness of sin.

Even though Christians have eternal life right now because they have begun to know and walk with God, they still hope for it in the future. They hope for this eternal life to continue and increase, especially after they die. This is not an “iffy” or a “maybe” kind of hope. It is the “confident expectation” kind of hope, the kind that is sure not to fail. Why is their hope so sure? Because eternal life is promised by God, and nothing is as sure as God’s own Word! God cannot lie, and when He tells us we have eternal life in Him, we do!
