God Has Always Been the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
Case 4: Trinity
Has God always been a Trinity?
God has always been a Trinity, and He always will be, because He never changes. Isaiah 48:16a – [Jesus the Messiah says,] 'Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, I was there.'
This Truth Makes
In Isaiah 48:16, the prophet is speaking. But God Himself often spoke through prophets. The “I” in this verse is not simply the prophet Isaiah, it is about the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, speaking through the prophet Isaiah. Jesus had not yet come to Earth as a man. When He says “from the time that it was,” Christ is speaking specifically of the time when He set up Cyrus as king. Christ was there before, during, and after Cyrus’ time as king. (To really discover why Christians believe the one speaking in Isaiah 48:16 is Christ, just continue reading into chapter 49.)
