Three Distinct Persons Working Together
Case 4: Trinity
Are there any Bible verses that show all three Persons of the Trinity together, doing or being things only God could do or be?
Yes. One of them is 2 Corinthians 13:14 – The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
This Truth Makes
2 Corinthians 13:14 is called a “benediction,” which is a public blessing given on behalf of others. Giving a benediction is prayerfully wishing good upon another person or group of people.
In this verse, Paul is the one praying for blessings for the benefit of believers. His benediction is the most complete of any of the other benedictions in the Bible. This prayer calls upon all three Persons of the Trinity. “The grace of Jesus Christ” is favor and kindness that is undeserved. “The love of God” is self-sacrificing for another person’s best good, no matter what! “The communion of the Holy Spirit” is close, intimate fellowship. Galatians 4:6 – And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”
