God Made Man from the Dust of the Earth
Case 6: God's View of You
How did the first human being get here?
The LORD God created the first man, Adam, out of dust and breathed life into him. Genesis 2:7a – And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.
This Truth Makes
God called the first man “Adam.” Do you know why? Because God made him from the red ground. The name “Adam” means “red” or “ground.” God used red earth to make the man, so He gave man a name that would remind him that He came from the ground.
Science agrees with the Bible’s claim that we were made from dust. The materials of our bodies have the same materials as the soil of the ground. We are dust!
The Bible says that God breathed into Adam the “breath of life.” In the Hebrew, the word for “life” is plural (more than one) so it can be understood to say the “breath of lives.” God has given you physical life like all other living creatures. But He has also given you a soul that will live forever somewhere. The “life” God has given to you is not like the temporary life He has given to animals and plants. It is much more than just the one physical life that is lived on this planet. It is an eternal (forever) soul.
