Happy People Know the Lord
Case 6: God's View of You
Clue: 5

Question Answer
What were Adam and Eve like when God created them?

Adam and Eve were created holy and happy, without sin and without sorrow. God was close to them, and they were close to God. Psalm 16:11b – In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

The Difference This Truth Makes
When we are in God’s presence, there will be great joy. In this verse, “in Your presence”literally means “before God’s faces.” God does not have a face like you or I have (God is a Spirit), but God often describes Himself in human terms to help us understand. When we live our lives before “God’s faces,” then He has great joy! Why is the word “face” plural? It is probably a reference to the Trinity – no matter where we are, we live our lives before the “faces” of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

When the Bible talks about being at “the right hand” of someone, it is a place of honor and blessing. If you sat at the right hand of the host at the dinner table, it would mean you were a very important guest! When Christ ascended up into heaven, he sat down at the right hand of the Father.
