Praise God for His Law!
Case 7: God's Law
What should your attitude toward God be like because He has given the Law?
I should be thankful to God because His Law shows me His character and points me to Christ, Who alone can save me. Psalm 119:111-112 – Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, for they are the rejoicing of my heart. I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes forever, to the very end.
This Truth Makes
Without God’s Law, we would not understand
our need for God.
But what about people who have never actually heard or read God’s Law?
The Bible teaches that God has written His Law on everyone’s hearts. Romans 2:14-15 – For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience
also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them).
Although people without God’s Word cannot understand God’s Word fully, all people are born with consciences and an inner sense of right and wrong. Because of this truth, no one will have an excuse for rejecting Christ. Because He is a loving, gracious, and merciful heavenly Father, God has given us His Law to bring us to Christ.
There are three reasons to be very thankful
for God’s Law:
1. Be thankful that the Law points us to Christ.
2. Be thankful that the Law reveals the character of God.
3. Be thankful that the Law shows us how we can live our lives to glorify God.
