Jesus Died an Awful Death To Pay for Our Sins
Case 8: Jesus Christ
What kind of death did Christ die?
Christ was nailed to a cross and His blood was shed for sinners. His death was both painful and shameful. Isaiah 53:5 – But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
This Truth Makes
Isaiah 53 is prophecy, which means it was a prediction of what would happen in the future. When these words were written, Christ had not yet arrived on Earth. Isaiah 53 predicted the details of Christ’s terrible sacrifice for our sins.
Christ’s death on the cross was an event that should cause us to have mixed emotions. We should feel incredibly grateful that Christ endured such a painful, shameful death to pay the price for our sins. We should also feel very sorrowful (both sad and sorry) that the Savior went through such horrible agony on account of our wicked hearts.
Christ was our Substitute. He took our place so that we would not have to pay the penalty for our sins. He proved to us how good and loving He is by His death on the cross for us.
