Jesus Christ Won the Victory over Sin and Death
Case 8: Jesus Christ
Clue: 6

Question Answer
Did Jesus Christ rise from the dead?

Yes! Jesus rose again and is alive today! The truth of His resurrection is the heart of the Gospel message. Acts 1:3b – He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

The Difference This Truth Makes
When Paul uses the phrase “first of all” in 1 Corinthians 15:3, it means “of most importance.” Paul is saying that the Gospel is the most important message.

When Paul used the phrase “according to the scriptures,” he was talking about the Old Testament scriptures. The Gospel of Jesus is not just a New Testament story. The whole Bible is about Christ! When the Israelites had to keep all kinds of rules and regulations, it was a way to remind them constantly that they could never fulfill God’s requirements perfectly on their own, but that Someone was coming Who could! When the Israelites had to make sacrifices and bring offerings, it was all part of the greater Story – part of the Gospel of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ’s righteousness. The Israelites knew that God was not satisfied with animal offerings to take away their sins – their faith was in the coming Messiah (the “Anointed One”). They obeyed the Law and looked ahead with the eyes of faith to a Messiah Who really was coming. Jesus Christ would fulfill the Law of God perfectly. Jesus Christ’s sacrifice could take away their sins and guilt permanently.

By rising from the grave, Christ proved He was a better sacrifice than bulls and goats ever could have been. Christ lived perfectly, died, and rose again. We can trust that He is the only One able to forgive and save us. Surely the only One to trust for eternal life is the only One Who has conquered death? He lives forever, and in Him, we can too.
