Salvation Comes Only through Jesus Christ
Case 9: God's Gift - Salvation
In whom alone must we trust to forgive our sins and to make us fit for eternal life with God?
We must trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, and in Him alone. Acts 4:12 – Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
This Truth Makes
When the word “name” is used in Acts 4:12, it means Jesus’ “power and authority.”
There is no other power or authority that can and will save men from sins. The Apostle Peter was the one who preached this bold message to the same crowd that murdered Jesus! It is amazing to think that, only a few days earlier, Peter was the disciple who denied the Lord Jesus three times, insisting that he did not even know Him.
After Peter’s denial and Jesus’ resurrection, Peter met the Lord in person, and that changed everything. When Peter saw and believed that Christ had beaten sin and death, he knew that Christ could beat sin and death for him, too. Peter devoted his life to preaching the story of Jesus and His cross.
Peter died a death similar to Jesus’ death – on a cross. In fact, Jesus prophesied it in John 21:18-19. From what we know about Peter from sources outside the Bible, however, he refused to be crucified like His Jesus. He insisted that he be crucified upside down, because he did not feel worthy even to die in the same manner that His Lord and King had died.
