God Changes His Children To Become Like Jesus
Case 10: God's Purpose for His Children
Clue: 2

Question Answer
What is "sanctification"?

Sanctification is God's ongoing work through His Word to change believers so their lives will reflect more and more of Jesus' likeness. 2 Corinthians 3:18b – Being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

The Difference This Truth Makes
We can meet and know Jesus Christ through the Bible. When we open up the Bible and read about Christ, it is like looking
into a mirror and seeing Him and all His glory. We cannot yet see Him face-to-face (that will happen in heaven), but we can “see” and get to know Him better through God’s Word.

When believers get a “view” of Christ as He is revealed in God’s Word, they are changed by the Spirit to be like Him. This is God’s way of changing believers. As you learned in Clue 1, this process is called sanctification.

When the Bible says “from glory to glory,” that means we are being changed from one level or stage of glory to another. In other words, becoming like Christ does not happen overnight! The process begins when we are born again, but it continues all throughout our lives.
