God’s Children Grow in Love, Holiness, and Good Works
Case 10: God's Purpose for His Children
Day by day, as you change to resemble Christ Jesus more and more, what will God and others begin to see in your life?
Day by day, as I change to resemble Christ Jesus, God and others will begin to see more holiness, more love toward them, and more good works in my life. Ephesians 2:10 – For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
This Truth Makes
If you are a Christian, then you are God’s work of art. In Ephesians 2:10, the Bible says we are His “workmanship.” This word carries the idea of a “masterpiece.” Just like a famous artist’s finest painting is called “a masterpiece,” so God’s children are “masterpieces” of the greatest Artist.
Have you ever seen an artist paint a portrait of someone? The more a portrait resembles (looks like) its subject, the better the artist is! God saved us to be living portraits of His Son, Jesus Christ. When people look at our lives, they should see not only us, but Jesus. Jesus loved God and others. He was holy (separate from sin and separate unto God). He did good works.
The Bible says that, as God’s masterpieces, we were created to do good works. We are not saved by doing good works – but we have been saved to do good works!
