We Should Love God’s Word and God’s Spirit
Case 10: God's Purpose for His Children
What should be your attitude toward God's Word and the Holy Spirit?
I should set my heart to trust and obey God's Word and the Holy Spirit. I should love learning the Truth that can make me whole, free, and better fit to serve God! 2 Timothy 3:17a – That the man of God may be complete.
This Truth Makes
God has given us His Word so that we may know Him through Christ, and so we may grow up to become like Christ. It is only by God’s Word that we can be saved and changed.
In 2 Timothy 3:17, the Bible says that the man of God (which is really a general term for any believer who wants to be godly) may be “complete.” This word “complete” has the idea of being “mature,” or “wholly grown.” Without Christ and a growing relationship with Him, every person is incomplete (less than whole).
It is through the Bible that we can get totally prepared for doing good thoughts, good words, and good works. The Bible equips us with motivation and instruction for how our lives can please and glorify God. What a tremendous purpose we have in Christ! We can please the Lord by serving Him.
Guess what? When we make pleasing God our priority, then He makes pleasing us a priority. Matthew 6:33 – But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
