God’s Favor Makes Us Thankful, Confident, and Humble
Case 11: God's Work - Past and Present
How does God exercise His providence specially for the sake of His children?
God works all things together for the good of His children and the glory of His name. Romans 8:28b – All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
This Truth Makes
God’s plans are all about God, not you. You are only a part of God’s plans – but what a privilege to be even a part!
Psalm 84:10 – For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
You can either yield your life to the truth that God’s plans are more important than yours, or you can try to resist His will and make your life miserable and meaningless.
It is foolish to attempt to “do your own thing.” God’s plans are better! God’s promises are better! Living for God’s will never brings regret. God works all things out in the best possible way – His ways are perfect.
In Romans 8:28, the word “good” has the idea of being worth it, or profitable. If we look at the next verse (29), we discover that “good” in this passage means profitable for making us more like Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is good because He is God. He is the only reliable way for us to measure or understand what true good ness really is. Becoming more like Him is definitely a good thing. God promises to change us into the image of His Son more and more, both now and forever. That is a cause worth living for! And it is also a cause worth dying for.
