Jesus Will Reward Believers When He Returns
Case 12: God's Plan for the Future
On the day of resurrection and judgment, how will Christ judge believers, those sinners who trusted Him for salvation?
Because believers are saved sinners, Christ will not judge their souls, but He will judge their works to see whether they brought glory to His name. 2 Corinthians 5:10a – For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.
This Truth Makes
Believers will stand before the “JudgmentSeat of Christ.” This judgment will not be anything at all like Christ’s judgment against unbelievers. At the Judgment Seat, Christ will review the activities of believers and give rewards. (See 1 Corinthians 3:13-15.)
The works of the believers can be divided into two categories:
1. Works that survive: 1 Corinthians 3:14 – If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.
2. Works that are burned: 1 Corinthians 3:15 – If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
When we stand before Christ, it will be a time of revelation. Christ will reveal the number of our works, the quality of our works, and the motives behind our works. If our record is bad, it burns. If our record is good, we receive a reward with which to glorify Him.
