Jesus Is the Only Mediator Between God and Man
Construction Zone 8: Jesus Christ
Stage: 2

Question Answer
Who is the only Mediator between God and sinners, the only One able to bring us close to God?

Jesus Christ is the only Mediator between God and sinners. 1 Timothy 2:5 – For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.

The Difference This Truth Makes
A “covenant” is something like a promise, but it is even more serious than that. There is no way to get out of it. It is an agreement beyond all agreements! A covenant is a super-promise that begins a relationship that can never be changed.

A wedding vow is a covenant. So is an adoption. These are covenants that create relationships between people, and the relationships they create are forever. God always keeps His covenants, but human beings have never been able to keep covenants with God by themselves. They need a mediator.

A “mediator” is a go-between person or bridge between two people or groups of people. The mediator works to bring together the people and to take away any misunderstandings.
Mankind had failed God and sinned against Him, ruining the relationship between them. When we sin, we make ourselves the enemies of God. The only One able to bring us together is Christ. Adam could not do it. Moses could not do it. David could not do it. Mary, Jesus’ mother, could not do it.

Every other human has failed to meet the Law’s demands. ButChrist is both human and God. He obeyed perfectly, when no one else could. Christ was and still is the only perfect Mediator between God and man. Through faith in Christ, we can come to God and have a right relationship with Him because of our Mediator – the Bridge between God and us.

ExtraContent
Do you ever look forward to worshipping Jesus face-to-face someday? What do you imagine that day will be like when you see Christ Seeing It Clearly. C.S. Lewis taught that "A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic - on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg - or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God; or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”Awesome Quote: “There is no easy middle ground to stroll upon. You either accept Jesus or reject him." Sholem Asch
