What kind of death did Christ die?
Christ died a painful, shameful, bloody death on a cross for sinners. Isaiah 53:5a – But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities.
This Truth Makes
The death of Christ on the cross is an event that should cause us to have mixed feelings. We should feel incredibly thankful that Christ paid the price for our sins. We should also feel incredibly sad that our sins caused Him such pain and shame.
Christ was our “Substitute.” That means He took our place so that we would not have to pay the penalty for our sins. By dying for us, He proved to us how good and loving He is.
Jesus died an awful death on the cross. The Bible teaches that “without the shedding of blood is no remission [forgiveness of sins]” (Hebrews 9:22). Jesus needed to die a painful, shameful, bloody death in order to pay for our sins.
