God Commands All of Us To Repent and Believe
Construction Zone 9: God's Gift - Salvation
Stage: 3

Question Answer
What must you do to be saved?

To be saved, I must (by grace, through faith) repent from my sins and believe that only Christ can make me clean. Mark 1:15b – "Repent, and believe in the gospel."

The Difference This Truth Makes
God wants you to be saved. In order to receive salvation, you must be “converted.” This means you must repent (change your attitude toward sin) and have faith (believe) in Christ.

God expects each person to respond to the Gospel with repentance and faith. If we do this, it is called “conversion.”

Acts 3:19 – Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.

Conversion is a one-time decision of turning from sin and turning to Christ in faith. In other words, it does not need to keep happening over and over again. Even though we will keep growing in faith, and even though we will need to keep on turning away from sin, conversion is that first turning from sin and to Christ in faith that He does the saving. Once you are saved, you are always saved, if you were truly saved.
