God Accepts Believers in Christ
Construction Zone 9: God's Gift - Salvation
Stage: 9

Question Answer
How can God rightly call a sinner "righteous"?

If my faith is in Jesus, I am united with Him. His righteousness counts for me, and God will not hold my sins against me. Philippians 3:9b – Found in Him, not having my own righteousness.

The Difference This Truth Makes
There are three more AWESOME benefits (good things, extra gifts) that come with salvation. Without these good gifts, we could never be accepted by God. God accepts believers because they are in Christ.

1. Justification – The first benefit is called justification and it means to be “declared righteous.” When God saves us, He lets Christ’s righteousness count for us, like we have Christ’s perfect record. When God sees a believer, He does not see a filthy, sinful soul anymore – He sees Christ instead. He looks at us just as if we had never sinned, and we are accepted.

2. Adoption – Being justified goes along closely with another benefit, which is adoption. Adoption is the benefit of salvation that makes believers God’s “children” (Galatians 3:26). The Father lovingly cares for His children and protects them. Through adoption, believers are accepted as permanent members of God’s family.

3. Glorification – Since Christians are part of God’s family now, there is coming a day they there will be a “family reunion.” Believers will see Jesus Christ just as He is, and will go to live with Him forever. Jesus must change us in order to make us acceptable into heaven. This change is called glorification and is a third benefit of salvation. When we are glorified, we will have bodies like Jesus’ body. (Philippians 3:21). Glorified bodies are fit for heaven because they are perfectly free from sin, pain, and sickness.
