We Will All Stand Before Christ
Construction Zone 12: God's Plan for the Future
Stage: 5

Question Answer
On the day of resurrection and judgment, how will Christ judge believers, those sinners who trusted Him for salvation?

Because believers are saved sinners, Christ will not judge their souls, but He will judge their works. 2 Corinthians 5:10a – For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.

The Difference This Truth Makes
Believers will stand before “the Judgment Seat of Christ.” The works of the believers are divided into two kinds: 1. works that survive or 2. works that burn.

When we stand before Christ, it will be a time of revealing (uncovering, showing). Christ will reveal the number of works (how many we do). Christ will reveal the worth of our works (how good they are). And Christ will reveal the motives behind our works (whether we did them out of love for self or for Him). If a work is bad, it is forgotten.

If a work is good, we receive a reward that glorifies God.
This judgment does not decide whether we will enter heaven. If you are a believer, God has already declared you “righteous” the moment you were “born again” by faith in Christ. When we stand before Christ, we stand by faith in Him. His righteousness counts for us, too, and we are accepted by God.
